Arsenal bought themselves a lifeline for an entry into the Champions League next season after they managed back to back wins over Manchester United and Southampton in the domestic league. But they are a squad in need of some repair and Arsene Wenger is already busy in making plans for the summer.
The manager has been looking to add some star players to his squad at the end of the season and the latest name on the radar is Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri. Born and brought up in Cote d’Ivoire, Seri was a part of the ASEC Mimosas, the Porto B side, and the Pacos de Ferreira before he settled at Nice in 2015.
Ever since, Seri has cemented a place in the first team for the French club, making 69 appearances to date. He has been a vital cog in the club’s domestic league journey this season, scoring six goals and picking up nine assists in 32 league games this season.
A central midfielder by trait, Seri is also capable of playing as a defensive midfielder but it is his balance between creativity and ability to do the dirty work, that has made him a wanted commodity in Europe. The likes of PSG, Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur are interested in his signature, which shows that the 22-year old is destined to great things in the future.
An excellent passer, who can pop up with the odd long range stunner, Seri is a genuine playmaker who can thread passes of the highest order, even against the best defences in Europe. Though weak in the air, he is more than capable of holding on to the ball when needed and is a player who loves to create chances for his side.
He plays through balls quite often and having played his football in more two different continents, and three different countries, he has gathered some serious footballing experience which can come in handy for the Gunners.
Wenger has the likes of Mohamed Elneny, Aaron Ramsey, Granit Xhaka, Francis Coquelin and Santi Cazorla to play in this role while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain can also deputise if needed. But the manager is desperate for a genuine midfielder who can add the necessary strength and balance to his side and Seri is a superb option.
The French manager is expected to spend on a midfielder in the summer and there are very few options better than Seri in the transfer market at the moment.
