Celtic have already been crowned the Scottish Premiership champions banking on a monumental 30 points lead over second placed Aberdeen and now have one final game left in their immensely impressive domestic campaign as the Hoops are set to host fifth-placed Hearts at Celtic Park. The Jambos have failed to win against the Scottish giants since 2011 and Brendan Rodgers’ men were confident of concluding their league campaign unbeaten. Celtic, however, finished off their glorious Premiership season with a routine 2-0 victory and grabbed the title with a record 106 points.
Below are the Celtic players rated from the game.
Craig Gordon: 7
The veteran custodian made a few routine stops throughout the game. Was lucky as Johnsen’s header struck the post towards the end and he himself made a majestic save to deny Walker a few minutes prior to the final whistle and thus registered another clean-sheet for the Hoops.
Cristian Gamboa: 6
Showed attacking intent down the right-hand flank, won a free-kicks for his side but failed to link up with Patrick Roberts. Was taken off at half-time to be replaced by Tom Rogic.
Jozo Šimunović: 6.5
Looked solid defensively and pulled off a few crucial blocks, clearances and interceptions. Was taken off to be replaced by veteran Kolo Toure in the middle of the second half.
Dedryck Boyata: 7
Posed attacking threats from set-pieces and came close to score on a few occasions. Rescued his defence when needed and showed commanding aerial and physical presence.
Kieran Tierney: 7.5
The teenager made some ambitious forward runs and linked up beautifully with Scott Sinclair down the left. Whipped in a few decent-looking crosses inside the box and tried his luck with long range efforts.
Scott Brown: 7
The skipper did extremely well in a combative role by winning back possession in the middle of the park. Made some clumsy tackles at times but his box-to-box runs caused enough troubles for the Jambos.
Stuart Armstrong: 7.5
Started in a deeper role, but spent most of the time in attack alongside Griffiths, Sinclair and Roberts. Marked his name in score-sheet when the Scottish international doubled the lead late in the game after picking up Scott Sinclair’s rebound. Was replaced by Erik Sviatchenko towards the end.
Patrick Roberts: 7.5
The Manchester City loanee looked impressive once again as he kept the Hearts backline on toes down the right wing with his smart movements, pace, dribbles and crosses. Set up Celtic’s first goal beautifully for Griffiths down the right-hand flank and the marksman made no mistake to smash it into the back of the net from close range.
Callum McGregor: 7
Another steady performance from the midfielder who switched the game in both flanks and linked up beautifully with the attackers. Came close to score, but was denied by Hearts custodian Viktor Noring.
Scott Sinclair: 7.5
Linked up well with Tierney down the left-hand flank and made some smart movements to open up Hearts defence. Armstrong doubled the lead late in the game from his rebound.
Leigh Griffiths: 7
Missed on a few occasions but broke the deadlock in the second half from close range after picking up Patrick Roberts’ cross. Left impression with his set-piece skills once again.
