Bournemouth are one of the teams who are currently in a spot of bother with their line-up for the next season. The club’s current coach Eddie Howe is worried about the lesser number of goals they have scored throughout the season and is looking to bring in someone who can add goals and give stability to the Cherries midfield, which is currently in tatters.
One player who is at the top of Howe’s target list for the next season is Alireza Jahanbakhsh. The Iranian has been one of the best Asian midfielders to play in Europe in the recent times, following the footsteps of his predecessor Ali Karimi, who used to play for the German giants Bayern Munich as an attacking midfielder.
Just like Karimi, Jahanbakhsh also plays as an attacking midfielder for his current club AZ Alkmaar in the Dutch Eredivisie. He has shown sparks of brilliance in his style of play during the current season. He has also scored nine goals in the season for AZ Alkmaar so far.
Jahanbakhsh stepped into European football with NEC and in his very first year won the Player of the Year award. However, in 2015, the Iranian was signed in by Alkmaar and has since been playing an indispensable role in attack for the Dutch side.
The 23-year-old is one of the most sought after young talents in the recent years. Former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz is a big fan of the Iranian midfielder and had given him a number of chances to feature in the National team during his tenure as the Head Coach of the Iranian Football team.
A number of big clubs from Netherlands, as well as Europe, including Chelsea, Manchester United, Celtic and Ajax, have been keeping a close eye on Jahanbakhsh in order to offer him a contract to be a part of their team this summer. Recently, clubs like Bournemouth, Watford and Burnley also joined the race to bag the youngster for the next season. Reportedly, AZ Alkmaar have slammed a price tag of £9 million on Jahanbakhsh.
Jahanbakhsh is a very talented player and has grown in skills with the advent of his career in European football. With lethal shots from both feet and an equally impressive header, the 23-year-old youngster has the capacity to take on any top class defence in Europe. His ability to float crosses in the air and thread passes on the ground for his teammates has made him a key figure at AZ Alkmaar over the years.
