Swansea City were able to escape relegation, thanks to a spirited performance from their players in the closing stages of the recently concluded Premier League season. However, it has been far from satisfactory for the Swans and they will be looking to turn things around in the next season by bringing in a number of fresh faces into the club during the summer transfer window.
The current boss of the Welsh side, Paul Clement, is already looking for reinforcements to be brought into the side to strengthen it for the next season. He also has been monitoring a number of players from all over Europe who have played a big role for their clubs this term to make an impact in the English league. One such player is David Selke, the young striker from German side Red Bull Leipzig.
RB Leipzig have written one of the most exciting success stories in the Bundesliga this term, making a great impression on European football alongside German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund. All their players were at their best throughout the season, along with their exceptional striker David Selke.
Selke has made 50 appearances for his club since arriving from Werder Bremen in 2015.He has scored 14 goals so far in his tenure, and has attracted interests from a number of clubs from all over Europe for a move in the upcoming summer transfer window, including the Premier League side Swansea City, who are in dire need of a marksman who can score goals for them to give them an advantage over the opponents.
Reportedly, the player’s agent is already in the UK to hold talks about a potential move for the 22-year-old striker to the Welsh club. The move might be fruitful for both the sides, with Swansea getting a perfect replacement for their 32-year-old spearhead Fernando Llorente, who might be shown the door in the next season while on the other hand, providing Selke with the opportunity to compete with some of the best players in the world.
Selke, in spite of having a good season with his current club, is not fully satisfied with his situation in the German Bundesliga. This is majorly due to the reason that he had to make 19 appearances in total from the bench. This lack of starts has reportedly disappointed the youngster and he is eyeing a move to a club where he can get a regular place in the starting line-up. But is The Liberty Stadium a decent destination for him?
