It was a triumphant night in Stockholm for Manchester United, as they won the much coveted Europa League against Dutch Eredivisie side Ajax for the first time in their history. Ajax launched a young team on the pitch and made it a tough fight for the Red Devils on the night of the final. Almost all the players of Ajax had a fairly good match, led well by their inspirational captain Davy Klaassen.
The 24-year-old Dutchman has been in good form throughout the current season and has been marshalling his young squad in a very efficient way. His inspirational captaincy has led his side to become the runners-up in the Dutch Eredivisie as well in the current season, finishing just one point behind eventual champions Feyenoord. His brilliant display of pace and prowess has attracted a number of big-name clubs to bag him for the next season, including the Premier League club Everton.
There is a huge possibility that the Toffees might lose their attacking midfielder Ross Barkley in the summer to any of the big name clubs in the Premier League, after denying to pen down a new contract with the Merseyside club involving a speculated demand of a pay hike in the new season. This has compelled Ronald Koeman, the present man in charge at Goodison Park, to already start his search for a player who can be a replacement for the Englishman next term, and Klaassen looks to fit his bill completely.
Klaassen has been an integral part of the team for a number of seasons for Ajax. However, speculations are rife that the main man in the Dutch club’s midfield might make a move out of Ajax in the next season, with the Premier League being his probable destination. The Dutch midfielder is sure that it will not be a problem for the club to let go of him if he wants to make a switch from the Eredivisie to any of the big spending clubs of the Premier League.
Reportedly, Ronald Koeman has shown interest in bagging the midfielder for the next season. In case Ross Barkley leaves the club in the next season, it will be really difficult for the Dutchman to find someone who can play a pivotal role in the midfield and ensure a continuous supply of lethal passes into the attacking third to make it easier for the strikers to score goals.
Tottenham are also looking interested in signing Klaassen for the next season to strengthen their team and continue their good run in the next season as well.
