Everton have stepped up their interest in Burnley forward Andre Gray. The Toffees are scheduled to spend a huge amount of money in the summer transfer window and Ronald Koeman has identified Gray as one of his targets. Gray had a decent season with Clarets as he registered nine goals in this season. Earlier he had an excellent season in the second tier of the English League as he inspired the Clarets to gain promotion to the Premier League. He has a year left on his current contract and Burnley would fear the risk of losing him for nothing once his contract ends.
Everton are planning a squad overhaul as Ronald Koeman would be eyeing a Champions League spot in the next season. The rise of Romelu Lukaku in the season has made him a hot property in the transfer market and the Merseyside club might lose him in the summer. Lukaku has been the main threat of the Toffees this season and replacing him would not be an easy task.
But enticing Gray will not be simple as Tottenham Hotspur are also planning a move for him. The North Londoners have no other renowned forwards apart from Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino is very adamant to add a forward with ample Premier League experience. Everton are considering a double swoop as Michael Keane is also on their shopping list. The defender has impressed everyone with his top notch defending and they are planning a double raid.
Parting ways with Gray is seemingly possible if Burnley get a good fee for him. Everton are closing down on him and a move is very imminent. Gray is a very obvious choice in terms of his price tag. Meanwhile, Brentford also set to be in for a few extra pounds as they would get a share of his transfer fees.
Given the squad strength of Burnley, nobody could have imagined they would survive the drop. Both Gray and Keane have been a part of the team which has gone through various ups and downs. Everton are destined to finish in the seventh spot and it opens a door for the Europa League qualifying stage. Gray will have the chance to ply his trade in Europe should the Toffees pass the initial stage. Koeman will have to do some serious business in the summer to get Everton back to the glory days. The Toffees have shown the urge this season and would be hoping to break into the top four next season.
