Everton are not having a season as per their expectations in the current one and it would be safe to say that it has been more of a mixed bag this term for The Toffees. On one hand, they have been able to render the services of Romelu Lukaku, the scorer of the highest number of goals in the current season while on the other they have been badly let down by their defence who have allowed quite a few past them throughout the season.
Ronald Koeman, the current man in charge at Goodison Park, is looking forward to eradicating the loopholes of this season and has concentrated on rebuilding the defence for the next season. Reportedly, he has been handed a war chest of £75 million by the club authority to bring in players from all over Europe and make the side stable enough to take on the biggies of the Premier League.
A number of players have been linked to making a move to the Merseyside club in the next season, including the Uruguayan defender Mauricio Lemos who is currently playing for Las Palmas in the Spanish La Liga. Everton are looking to make the centre back wear their colours in the next season and are reportedly looking to make a bid for the player during the next transfer window.
Though there might be no problem from the Spanish side to let go off their prized possession in the next season, the Uruguayan international might not get a work permit to make an appearance in the UK. However, Everton officials are trying their hardest to make it possible to bring in the centre back in order to cover up their defensive lapses in the next season.
As per sources, Spanish giants Barcelona have been showing a fair bit of interest in the Uruguayan Under 20 as well as Under 23 international and wants to bag him for the next season. However, The Toffees are not giving up by any means and are looking to bring in the defender to boost their defence.
Reportedly, the former Rubin Kazan player has a price tag of £18 million on him. Everton are looking to negotiate terms over the Las Palmas defender for the arrival of their much-desired player during the summer transfer window. However, it might not be as easy for The Toffees to bag the centre back given the orders by the UK government.
Everton also have their eyes fixed on the Burnley centre-back Michael Keane, with Koeman looking to eradicate the problems from the last season permanently.
