James McCarthy has been one of the players to have an impact on the good beginning for his current club Everton, till his injuries made him miss most of the season. Reportedly, the Republic of Ireland has been rested for the post-season and is set to miss the international matches against Mexico, Uruguay and Austria to recover from his injuries completely before the next season starts.
However, there is also the possibility that the Merseyside club might let go of their midfielder during the summer transfer window. It might be more because Everton is looking to strengthen their midfield with the option of Swansea City midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson available at their disposal. Reportedly, James McCarthy might be sold off for £20 million by his current club to initiate a deal to land the Icelandic midfielder at Goodison Park in the next season.
Ronald Koeman, the current coach of Everton has said that he wants the Republic of Ireland midfielder to stay with the club for more time to come. He also said that it is for his injuries that he had to be sidelined for most of the season; otherwise, he would have preferred to start with McCarthy given his good form and his control over the midfield.
Crystal Palace are looking to make a bid for McCarthy to bring him to Selhurst Park in the next season. However, West Ham United are also reportedly interested in the Republic of Ireland midfielder and is looking to make a bid for him in the summer transfer window.
Crystal Palace have not been through a very good season this term and at one time was looking almost certain to be relegated from the Premier League. However, a good team effort near the end of the season saved them from relegation.
Sam Allardyce, the current coach of the side, is not completely convinced with the way his side’s midfield is faring and is looking to bring in some good midfielders who can intercept between opposition attacks from building as well as play crucial passes into the attacking third. Looking at the abilities of the Irish midfielder to also chip in with crucial goals, the Crystal Palace manager must be happy if he can sign McCarthy.
James McCarthy, given he is at hundred percent of his fitness, can be an asset to any team with his darting runs into the heart of the defence of the opposition and delivering assists for his teammates.
