Antonio Conte’s job this season is not yet over as Chelsea are alive in the FA Cup as well but the manager is already planning for the future and is looking at some quality players to improve certain areas of the squad this summer. The latest name constantly linked with a move to the Bridge is Tottenham Hotspur full-back, Kyle Walker.
The first choice for club and country at the moment, Walker stands as one of the most productive players in his position in the league this season. He has been a mainstay under Pochettino and has been one of the first names on the team-sheet for the Spurs.
The 26-year old is one of the best in his position in Europe but he has been involved in a small confrontation with Pochettino and ever since, he has been constantly linked with an exit. The Daily Mail claims that Manchester City and Chelsea will fight for his signature and this might see his price of £40m increase this summer.
It is also revealed that Chelsea are ready to improve on his wages, making him one of the most expensive recruitments at the Bridge in recent times.
Known for his sparkling runs into the final third, Walker is an attacking full back who knows his defensive duties. He plays in a system that allows him to press forward at every opportunity and this has seen him create a number of chances for his team from the flank.
He is a constant outlet on the wing and is a player who can act as a genuine winger against sides that sit back and defend. He is quick and though not a great dribbler, has nimble feet that allow him to get past defenders. But tracking back one of his biggest strength. He is full of energy and never gives up and is a player most teams will want in their lineup.
Chelsea have used Victor Moses as a make-shift right wing-back this season and Conte knows that he cannot step into the next season with him as the first choice and without a backup. He is planning to use Walker in the first team next season while Moses can act as a backup when needed.
Born and brought up in England, Walker will also help the London club fulfil the requirements of local players as per the PL requirements and seems to be a sensational addition. However, he is contracted with the Spurs till 2021 and it will be interesting to see if Daniel Levy, the Spurs boss, is ready to do business with arch rivals Chelsea.
