Having secured the Premier League title for the 2016/17 season, Chelsea are on cloud nine at the moment. However, their present coach Antonio Conte is already looking to start recruitment for the next season to build a stronger line-up and to defend the title successfully. The fact that they are back in the Champions League next season will also be playing on the mind of The Blues coach who will look to build the team accordingly.
Reportedly, Conte is concentrating on building a solid backline for the next season and is looking to bring in some new players who have performed well throughout the season for their respective teams. One such player is Adam Smith, who plays as a right back for his present club Bournemouth.
Adam Smith has been one of the best right-backs in the Premier League this season and is highly rated for his defensive as well as attacking abilities. Eddie Howe, the manager of Bournemouth, is well aware of the value, his side’s prized possession holds and it will be hard for him to let Smith leave Dean Court during the next transfer window.
Smith has made 34 appearances for The Cherries so far this season, playing a pivotal role in holding the defence for them, as well as surging forward on occasions to ensure a regular supply of passes and crosses into the attacking third. He has got five assists to his name and has also one much valuable goal to show for his efforts this season.
Reportedly, Tottenham is also showing much interest in the Bournemouth right back to bag him for the next season. The Spurs will be finishing the campaign in a well deserved second place, with an eye on the coveted Premier League trophy in the next season. Their coach Mauricio Pochettino is looking to bring in a good player in the right back position, with the possibility of their regular man in the aforementioned position Kyle Walker reportedly leaving the club for Manchester City next season.
Smith is a product of the Tottenham Hotspurs academy and started his career with them. However, he only started once in the six years he was at White Hart Lane, having spent the rest of the time on loan stints with seven different clubs including Bournemouth.
Smith spent the 2010-11 season at Bournemouth on loan. He made a permanent move to join the South Coast club in the year 2014 and has since been playing a very important part in the advent of the team in the Premier League.
