From what has transpired for Rangers this season in the Scottish domestic competitions, it hasn’t been hard to derive that the Glasgow-based club have miles to cover before they could go toe-to-toe once again with their arch rivals in the shape of Celtic. Under the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers, the Celts have been absolutely flamboyant and brutally dominant whereas the Gers kept fighting with their self-constructed demons and have had only mediocrity to content themselves with.
Pedro Caixinha’s infant regime has been sporadic and erratic so far and a massive turnaround is the call of the hour. His squad needs to be rebuilt in order to strengthen it and enable the club in moving forward in the right direction. However, they do not possess the financial muscle to sign anyone they would put their finger on and thus, they would have to make shrewd deals with the limited monetary resources. Apparently, one of the players they could possibly capture is Newcastle United’s out-of-favour attacker, Haris Vuckic.
Vuckic was once acknowledged as one of the hottest properties in the game when Newcastle United brought him to St. James’ Park in the January transfer window of 2009 from Domzale. However, his career has been blighted by injuries time and again, and no wonder why his career with the Toons has been a stop-start one. He has been shipped out on loan to a handful of clubs and his time with Rangers during the second half of the 2014-15 campaign was arguably the most productive one where he scored 8 goals in 15 appearances for the Light Blues.
The Slovenian international’s contract with the Tyneside based club expires next month and considering that he is at a stage of his career where he needs to finds some stability, a move to the Ibrox Stadium would make perfect sense, not only for himself but for the Scottish giants as well who are in a dire need to beef up their attacking arsenal. Caixinha’s outfit have struggled to find the back of the net more often than not and thus, Vuckic’s incoming would make perfect sense.
A player who can play in the no. 10 role as well as on the left wing, the 24-year-old has been with Bradford in League One this season, scoring 1 goal in merely 4 starts, which isn’t likely to do any substantial benefit to him. Nonetheless, with the traits he possesses like quick feet, sharp movements and notable physical presence, if he is given a chance to thrive by the Teddy Bears, he might actually be able to do himself as well as Rangers a massive favour in the coming seasons.
