Celtic would hope to continue their winning run in the Scottish Premiership this Saturday as they welcome St. Johnstone. After their phenomenal winning streak of 20 games came to a halt with a draw against Rangers early March, Brendan Rodgers’ men have found it difficult to rebuild another streak.
They have drawn two games in the last six fixtures, currently sitting with 94 points. With four more games to go, Rodgers would aim for at least two wins to reach the 100-point mark by the end of the season.
Celtic have already bagged in the League Cup and Scottish Premiership and is en route to winning the SFA Cup. With a 27-point lead at the top of the table, the league is a dead rubber like Celtic playing a video game in God mode.
However, their next game could be a bit interesting though the end result is pretty much known to everyone. The last three times Celtic have faced St. Johnstone, they have scored 10 goals and conceded four goals. They have scored two goals against Celtic on two occasions previously, and now with Celtic going through a rough patch by their standards, they might just fancy a win.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Celtic Lineup Vs St. Johnstone
Defence
The position under the bar should be taken by Craig Gordon. The 31-year-old has been quite impressive this season conceding just 18 goals in 31 outings. He has been in huge demand of late and a departure this summer might be on the cards.
A full week’s rest must mean that Rodgers will have all his first-choice players well-rested for the game. The four-man backline is unlikely to change much. The central defence is expected to feature Dedryck Boyata and Erik Sviatchenko. Jozo Simunovic had started in the win against Rangers and Sviatchenko is expected to replace him.
The defensive flanks will be taken by the Kieran Tierney and Mikael Lustig. Tierney is yet another such candidate, who could make his way to the Premier League with numerous clubs interested in him. At just 19, he has been domineering in that role and should be a big success in England.
Midfield
Nir Britton was unused in the last game in the central midfield with Stuart Armstrong taking a deeper role. We expect the Israel international to start alongside Brown with Armstrong taking the number 10 position replacing Callum McGregor.
Attack
Scott Sinclair will start on the left flank and given his goal scoring touch at the moment, he wouldn’t want to miss a single game. James Forrest is expected to replace Patrick Roberts on the other flank.
With Moussa Dembele out for the season, Leigh Griffiths is expected to continue his role in the striker’s position.
