Ex-England international and former captain John Terry has confirmed that he will be leaving Stamford Bridge after this season. This has caused some kind of a stir among the clubs like Bournemouth and West Bromwich Albion to secure the services of the ex-captain of Chelsea for the next season.
John Terry is in his mid-thirties now and has been out of favour under the current Chelsea boss Antonio Conte. The Blues defender has started only ten times this season and has been left on the bench for most of the season by the Italian manager.
However, the ex-England skipper is quite confident of the fact that he has more to give to football and is looking for a club which will provide him with a chance to get regular outings. Offers have been flowing in from Chinese and American clubs as well, but going by the current developments, it seems that Terry will be settling for the Premier League for the rest of his football career.
Eddie Howe, the current manager of Bournemouth has been looking for an influential player who can help in strengthening his side’s defence in the coming season. The Cherries had a good season nevertheless and will look to improve their position from what they have achieved so far. Howe believes Terry, with his immense experience and skilled abilities, will be a prized possession for his side, given the ex-England international signs for them next summer.
Bournemouth’s close competitor in the Premier League points table, West Bromwich Albion, is also looking to compete with him regarding the signing of the Chelsea defender. Tony Pulis, the current man in charge at the Hawthorns, has been sceptical about his side’s defensive display this year and is looking to bag John Terry for a boost in their defence for the next season. The Baggies, in fact, had jumped for the ex-England international during the last transfer window as well, but Terry had denied to the move at that time.
The former Chelsea captain will be having a free transfer release clause to his name, as his contract will be ending at Stamford Bridge after the current season. However, the veteran defender wants to play on and has said that he is not finished as of yet.
Reportedly, Bournemouth’s decision to make the Chelsea defender wear their colours in the can only happen after the current season is over, as Terry has not agreed to any terms from any club so far. He has made it clear that the proper time to say yes to any offer has not yet come.
