Chelsea is currently in the pole position for lifting this year’s Premier League trophy. Their hard work and determination under the brilliant coaching of the Italian mastermind Antonio Conte seems to have paid off. They are also en route to lift their second major trophy of the season, the FA Cup, given that they beat arch rivals Arsenal in the final that will be played at Wembley.
Last season was one of the worst seasons for the Blues under their former coach Jose Mourinho, which saw the Portuguese getting sacked owing to his failure to defend the Premier League title they won in the earlier season. Chelsea finally finished the season at 10th position, leaving the club owner Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich looking for a suitable option who can take charge of the things at Stamford Bridge and bring back the glory days for them.
After a number of names were rumoured to take charge of the Blues, former Juventus and Italy National team coach Antonio Conte was finally roped in to become their manager for the next season.
The Italian master-mind evidently has been through a fantastic season with Chelsea and is eyeing to repeat the feat of his fellow countryman Carlo Ancelotti, who also won the Premier League title with Chelsea in his very first season in charge.
However, the present Chelsea manager has been rumoured with a move away from the London club. Reportedly, his next destination is the Spanish club Barcelona, who are looking to rope in someone of his stature to replace their outgoing manager Luis Enrique. The Spaniard has already given his decision of leaving the club at the end of the current season.
The Catalan giants are currently sitting on the top of the ladder in the Spanish La Liga. However, it has been a season which is far from convincing for them with a number of last minute victories both in Spanish as well as European competition. They also have not been able to put anything past the Juventus defence, which saw them getting ousted from the UEFA Champions League this season in their quarter-final encounter with the Bianconeris.
Reportedly, the way Conte has transformed the Chelsea team in the current season has caught the eye of Barcelona’s top management, and they are looking to rope him in as their new coach for the next season. However, speculations are rife that the Italian coach might make a move back to Italy to join Inter Milan, replacing their current coach Stefano Pioli for the next season.
