Arsenal’s final fixture against Everton will probably be one of the only two interesting fixtures left to watch on the final day of the season. With pretty much everything else decided on either end, the last spot for the fourth place is the only thing left to be determined and Premier League made sure it goes right down to the wire.
While Liverpool would want a massive help from their archrivals, Everton, in stopping the Gunners at Emirates, Arsenal are expecting an unlikely help from relegated Middlesbrough at the other end. Although just a win on Sunday wouldn’t secure a Champions League spot for the Gunners, it is the maximum they can do.
Team News
Arsenal- The biggest doubt for the game would be that of midfielder Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman has been in good form of late after spending most of the season injured in patches. He was taken off early in the match against Sunderland in the midweek and is likely to undergo a late fitness test. The other major doubt for the game is Laurent Koscielny. Arsenal’s best centre-half and their skipper is recovering from an Achilles problem and is also scheduled for a late fitness test.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain remains out of contention as he sill recovers from the hamstring and is hoping to make it for the FA Cup final against Chelsea.
Everton- Everton have no new injury concerns although they still continue to suffer at the back in the absence of Seamus Coleman and Funes Mori from their defence. Koeman has mostly got the better of Arsene Wenger in his managerial stint in England and Wenger would be careful not to give him the upper hand this time.
Playing Ross Barkley will be a big doubt, especially with the manager expressing his uncertainty about his future lately. The transfer rebel is unlikely to stay with Everton next season with many top Premier League sides targeting him.
Predicted Line-ups
Arsenal- Cech; Holding, Mustafi, Monreal, Bellerin, Ramsey, Xhaka, Gibbs; Sanchez, Ozil; Welbeck
Everton- Robles; Baines, Jagielka, Williams, Holgate; Davies, Schneiderlin, Gueye; Barkley, Lukaku, Mirallas
Key Players
Arsenal- Undoubtedly, Alexis Sanchez will be the biggest threat for Everton. The Chilean looks on a mission this season scoring four goals in the last three games. Although the Golden Boot looks a distant dream after Harry Kane’s heroics against Leicester in the midweek, he would like to keep up his form.
Everton- Romelu Lukaku will be Everton’s hitman at the other end. The Belgian leads Sanchez by one goal and is closer to catching Kane. Arsenal would need their best defensive performance to restrain him.
