Arsenal- The “Wenger Out” poster has been held up at every grand event across the world by now, and although it is still not enough to pressurise the club into sacking their long-serving manager, we all agree that a change is needed at the North-London club now.
When the Frenchman had arrived in England 21 years ago, he had a fresh set of ideas and clear philosophy to ingrain in the club. It worked wonders with the club winning all major trophies in England and producing some of the best talents across the world of football. Arsenal made stars like Dennis Bergkamp, Thierry Henry, Patrick Viera, Nicolas Anelka, Robert Pires and more, selling who helped shape the club’s financial structure and the mesmerising Emirates Stadium.
However, the 67-year-old has failed to win a league title in more than a decade and the side is now more associated with a selling club. To top that, this season has been their worst ever in the past 21 years, as they see themselves struggling to qualify for the Champions League. A fresh set of ideas is needed again and only someone new at the helm could bring that.
Barcelona- Although the Catalans are still very much in the La Liga race, and also in the final of the prestigious Copa del Rey, this season will be known for Real Madrid’s insane consistency of 40-game unbeaten run.
Barcelona have seen themselves thrashed twice in the Champions League, at the hands of Paris-Saint Germain and Juventus and Luis Enrique’s tactics have come under huge criticism. Despite the likes of Messi, Neymar and Suarez firing all cylinders, Barca have looked toothless in the attacking third at times. And Enrique’s transfers are to blame for it. None of his ship-ins worked really well and the club has already announced his exit at the end of the season.
Southampton- Another club, whose manager’s departure is very much imminent is Southampton. Various reports of their training ground bust-ups between the players and the manager have been doing the rounds, with their star player, Dusan Tadic also stating his displeasure of working under him.
Another popular trio of Ryan Bertrand, Virgil van Dijk and Nathan Redmond had similar allegations about the manager. Southampton’s season has been nowhere near their last season so far, with the South Coast club reaching the EFL Cup final being their only high point. While a top-half finish looks quite possible now, the club won’t surely keep Claude Puel at the helm after such accusations.
