Arsenal are ready to pounce on Torino frontman Andrea Belotti this summer. The North London club are expected to invest significantly in the transfer market and have been linked with the £85m rated Italian goal scorer for quite a while now. The Torino forward has been in blistering form this season having scored 28 goals for the Italian side. Belotti joined the Turin side from Palermo in 2015 for as little as €7.5 million and has been hogging the lime lights for his brilliance in front of the goal.
His prolific goal scoring has made clubs like Chelsea and Manchester United come calling for his services. Arsenal are in the need of reinforcements up front as both Olivier Giroud and Lucas Perez have not had a very fruitful season while Danny Welbeck came off very lately from a long injury spell.
Creating chances hasn’t been a problem for the Gunners with the likes of Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil acting as the creative force throughout but the absence of a prominent striker has been the main problem for them this season.
The Gunners haven’t produced a good striker since Robin Van Persie but Belotti could follow his suit. Giroud has been good whenever he has been introduced in the starting lineup but he started mostly from the bench this season. Lucas Perez could have been a brilliant force up front, but he has had his problems with his ankle and there is a major uncertainty over his future at the Emirates.
Chelsea are also tracking the movement of the star. Antonio Conte has already submitted his wishlist to the club hierarchy which contains the name of Belotti. The Italian gaffer is a huge admirer of the striker and if they somehow fail to entice Romelu Lukaku from Everton it is believed Conte will go all out to lure the player to Stamford Bridge.
The Gunners recently emerged as the champions of the FA Cup for a record 13th time but the Premier League title has eluded them for over a decade and the talented striker could be the first of the many arrivals at the Emirates this summer as a part of the squad overhaul.
The Gunners had a bid rejected in the winter transfer window but have renewed their hopes to land the player. Belotti can also be deployed on the wings and combining him with the likes of Sanchez and Ozil seems to be a very exciting idea. The player has a staggering release clause in the tune of €100 m and it remains to be seen how the Gunners negotiate a move for him.
