Arsenal might be on their way to bag their first confirmed player of the forthcoming summer transfer window and it is the Bosnian international Sead Kolasinac. The left-back, who is currently playing for the German club Schalke in the Bundesliga, might be a good addition to the North London club in the next season.
As per reports, the Bosnian left-back has been facing problems over his contract renewal with the German club in the recent times. His contract will be ending at the end of this season and Arsenal might have the pleasure to bring in the player as a free transfer agent, given the German club does not offer him a new contract, which is quite unlikely in the current situation.
The Gunners have been facing a rather dismal season in their current Premier League campaign. One of the major reasons behind that has been the defensive lapses that their current backline has not been able to cope with. Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger is reportedly not happy with a few of the current players and might look to offload them in the next season and bring in some new faces to rebuild the team.
The left back position, in particular, has been a cause of a headache for the Arsenal coach this season. Regular left backs Nacho Monreal and Kieran Gibbs have failed to impress their manager with their recent displays. Gibbs’ contract will be ending after this season and there is ample chance that he might not be offered a new one. This calls for a new left back to be implemented in the squad, and in the current circumstances, Kolasinac fits the bill perfectly for Wenger.
Kolasinac is known for his strong appearance in the heart of the Schalke defence. Apart from that, he is also a swift runner with the ball down the wing, delivering pinpoint passes into the opposition defence to set up his teammates in front of the goal. He has also been good with his long range efforts that can cause trouble to any goalkeeper due to the considerable amount of speed and power on the ball.
Reportedly, Manchester City, who also had a pretty dismal season in the Premier League this term, are looking to rope in the Schalke full-back in order to strengthen their defence for the next season. Their ageing left back Gael Clichy has been far from impressive in the current season. He might be shown the door during the next transfer window and make way for Kolasinac to replace him in the City squad.
