With just three games to go, Swansea City are very close to overcoming Hull City at the bottom of the table. With Crystal Palace six points ahead of them, it is unlikely that the Eagles would slip-up terribly in the remaining fixtures, which makes the Tigers as the only possible target for Paul Clement’s side.
And after quite an encouraging comeback against Manchester United last game in their backyard, the South Wales club will surely dream of life in the top flight next season. They face a thrilling Everton side next, who have had a brilliant run in 2017, like Tottenham Hotspur. And the fact that they have pretty much cemented the seventh position with no immediate threat, they have little to fight for now.
Swansea could get the better of the Toffees this Saturday at Liberty Stadium, despite the brilliant record the Merseyside club have in that venue. And a positive result this week, could take the team all the way, given they are left with Sunderland and West Bromwich Albion to play thereafter.
Here are 3 Swansea City players who need to step up against Everton-
Fernando Llorente- Given the traction he gained last January transfer window, his future with the club is highly unlikely to extend beyond this season. The 32-year-old is considered as the perfect poacher by many top coaches across Europe and he would like to end his season on a good note, keeping that reputation intact.
Not the fanciest of strikers in the league, Llorente relies mainly on his clinical finishing. With the right deliveries, the Spanish forward could provide the most exquisite of finishes. He has scored 12 goals this season and if Swansea’s midfield could give him chances, he will be Everton’s biggest threat.
Gylfi Sigurdsson- Another such player, whose future looks bright at the moment, even if Swansea dwindles into Championship next season. The attacking midfielder has been prolific in 2017 and is one of the main reasons Swansea are still in the survival race. He has scored nine goals and assisted 12 times so far. He showed against United, what he is capable of from set-pieces.
He operates from the left flank, and the absence of Seamus Coleman could be a huge advantage for him.
Leroy Fer- One of the most under-rated talents in the Premier League and the underwhelming season of Swansea’s didn’t help him much either. The Dutch midfielder has the composure and tactical brilliance to become the perfect anchorman. He has scored six goals and assisted 2 times to form the midfield so far.
Against the likes of Tom Davies and Ross Barkley, his services will be quintessential.
