Champions League football needs to be back at Old Trafford as the supporters would be praying with their heart and soul for Manchester United to emerge as the better team in the Europa League final. The Red Devils had a pretty much smooth sailing in the Europa League as no big names were there on their way to the final. But facing Ajax would be their first big ask in the Europa League. The Dutch team have impressed with their attacking football this season and could be a serious threat to United’s defence. The absence of Eric Bailly will be felt heavily as the towering defender has been the most standout performer in the defence.
But Jose Mourinho cannot complain about things which are not in his hand and United would feel the urge more as this is the only way to gain an entry to next year’s Champions League. The Red Devils will finish outside the top four for the second consecutive season. A Silverware is up for grabs and the Red Devils will go all out in the final.
Three Players Who Have To Perform For Manchester United To Lift The Europa League
Henrikh Mkhitaryan
He has been the Europa League player of the year for the Red Devils. Particularly his goals have been the deciding factor in some of the matches as the Armenian playmaker has really been the creative force behind United’s success in this second-tier European tournament. The 28-year-old arrived at the Old Trafford in the summer and could just win his first Europa League title of his career. The Red Devils have never won this tournament in their history and Mourinho would be the first manager to have a hand on the Europa League trophy if they do win this tournament.
Marcus Rashford
The young forward has chipped in with some valuable goals off late and has become an inevitable part of Mourinho’s strategy after the injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Earning Mourinho’s trust is not easy as the gaffer is very sceptical when it comes to chalking out his strategy. Surprisingly the youngster has found the target only two times this season in the Europa League but he is earmarked to be the next big thing after Wayne Rooney.
Sergio Romero
Jose Mourinho already made it clear that Argentine keeper Sergio Romero will be in between the sticks in the Europa League final. The keeper repaid the manager’s faith with an excellent display against Southampton as he denied Manolo Gabbiadini from the spot. If Romero can show this kind of reflexes, United have a very bright chance to lift the trophy on 24th May.
