West Bromwich Albion have been one of the toughest teams to tame at the Hawthorns this season, but the away form has been far from good for the Baggies. Currently, they are in need of an attacking player who can provide them with the option to score more goals and stabilise their form. Henry Onyekuru, the 19-year-old Nigerian forward can be the answer to their woes.
Reportedly, the Nigerian starlet who is currently playing for the Belgian side KAS Eupen is one of the most sought after forwards in the world and is being pursued by teams like West Bromwich Albion and Scottish Champions Celtic.
Celtic has been on the trail of Onyekuru for quite a long time and even had a £1million bid rejected by his current club KAS Eupen in January. It goes without saying that the Scottish Champions will once again bid for the 19-year-old Nigerian, but this time rivalled by the English Premier League side West Bromwich Albion.
The Nigerian starlet has already scored 15 goals so far this season and has been instrumental in his side’s victories. Onyekuru came through the Aspire Academy in Qatar before joining the Belgian side in 2015.
Reportedly, Henry Onyekuru has been on the radar of Premier League teams like Liverpool, Bournemouth and Southampton apart from West Bromwich Albion. He is yet to make a decision about his future, which can only happen after the Belgian play-offs.
The Belgian side Eupen has valued the Nigerian youngster at £7million. However, they are still to decide whether to let go of Onyekuru at the end of the season, as he is a player who has been instrumental in all the wins of KAS Eupen since arriving at the club in 2015.
Henry Onyekuru has an ability to take shots on target both from close range as well as long distances. His goal scoring ability being uncanny, the forward is equipped with the ability to make great runs through the middle and can cause trouble for opponents by threading in pinpoint passes for his teammates to score goals.
The youngster has been in the running to be awarded the prestigious Belgian player of the Year. West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis has been quite desperate to sign the player for his team for the next season.
The forthcoming years definitely look bright for Henry Onyekuru. And coming to the Premier League at such a stage and getting the opportunity to rub shoulders with established players in the best league in the world will indeed be an enticing prospect for Henry.
