For the last few years, Tottenham Hotspur has become a force to reckon with in the Premier League as well as in the rest of Europe. A plethora of players from the team has been playing regularly for the England National side, including big names like Harry Kane, Dele Alli, Kyle Walker and Danny Rose. With their position affirmed at number two in the league table, the Spurs are looking to make a statement by overtaking current league leaders Chelsea and making a probabilistic bid at winning the Premier League this season.
For the next season though, Tottenham have already started to shortlist the players they are going to bring in to make it an even more successful season in England as well as Europe. One of them is the Brazilian playmaker Douglas Costa, currently playing for the German side Bayern Munich.
Douglas Costa is one of the players who has been instrumental in taking Bayern Munich to pole position in Bundesliga in the last few seasons. However, the Brazilian has been out of favour from the new manager Carlo Ancelotti, left out on the bench on most occasions throughout the season. In fact, the Brazilian has made only 17 starts this season and is not looking like the first team choice now that Frank Ribery is back after a long injury layoff.
Tottenham might also depart ways with their French midfielder Moussa Sissoko following his disappointing performance this season. This is where the chance to get the Brazilian forward in their team for the next season comes in, with coach Mauricio Pochettino looking to add more quality to his side in the days to come. Spurs might go for a £30 million bid to secure the services of the Bayern winger.
Reportedly, Costa has been trying to get a bigger contract out of the current one with Bayern Munich that expires in 2020. But the Bavarians are in no mood to hand out any extra advantage to the Brazilian. Reports claim that warnings have been issued from the club’s side to make the Brazilian winger remind of the fact.
Douglas Costa is a player with typical Brazilian finesse and has the ability to run through the opposition defence. His crisp passes into the attacking third meant for his teammates to score goals and his natural dribbling can put any team’s defence to shame. The Brazilian can hold onto the ball for a long time in the midfield and can unleash long-range shots on opposition goal. He also has the knack of chipping in with goals from time to time and can cross the ball with pinpoint precision.
