According to latest reports, Tottenham Hotspur are keeping close tabs on Galatasaray’s want away star Bruma and they had even sent scouts to watch the player in their big-ticket match against Fenerbahce. The Portuguese international has been a hot prospect across European football for the past two seasons and it is just a matter of time before he actually moves to the Premier League.
Tottenham have had a successful season this year to some extent although they are yet to win any form of silverware. The North-London club has finally come out of the shadows of their arch-rivals, Arsenal, as they finish above them in the league table this season. Though it would be unfair to rule them out of the title race just yet as they are just four points adrift of league leaders Chelsea with six games in hand, and a surprise turnaround may be around the corner.
However, even if the Lilywhites don’t manage to win it, they have done a brilliant job at proving their critics wrong who have always complained about their lack of depth. With the emergence of players Heung Min-Son, Harry Winks and Georges-Kévin N’Koudou whenever the need arose, Mauricio Pochettino’s unknown men have looked prolific and dangerous coming off the bench.
With the primary objective now attained, Spurs will look to level up next season and that means bagging a silverware at the top level. While Premier League remains an enduring and unexpected conquer, Champions League could be a tough but gettable target for them, as Monaco has shown this season. And that means, Pochettino will have to bring in quality players, who would increase the competition for the first team.
Wings have been Spurs’ biggest weapon so far with Christian Eriksen and Son shining, and it is quintessential to get the perfect backup for them. Bruma’s pursuit makes all the more sense. The 22-year-old winger hasn’t had the best of seasons this year but has still managed to bag six goals and six assists in 24 league outings.
Bruma’s phenomenal pace and dribble ability make him a lethal addition to any squad. He likes to get on the offensive relying on short passes and bursts through when given space. As opposed to Eriksen, Bruma could be a totally different option offering a different attacking dimension, something that Sissoko couldn’t bring to the table.
And quite fortunately for Spurs, Bruma’s days at Galatasaray are numbered. With just 14 months left on his contract and the club likely to be forced into selling him in order to comply with UEFA for Financial Fair Play regulations, this season could well be his last with the Istanbul giants.
