It seemed Chelsea would get away with the Premier League title with ease but some late twists have made the title race more interesting. Chelsea’s loss to Manchester United has given Tottenham Hotspur a ray of hope as Spurs a now only four points clear of the table toppers
Eden Hazard
Probably the best player in the current Chelsea squad. The Belgian was not at his very best form in the last season as Chelsea finished in a dismal 10th position. But this season it has been all Hazard as the Belgian winger has single-handedly turned Chelsea’s fortunes.
With 14 goals and 5 assists in the English top flight, the Belgian wizard has been the backbone of this team. Hazard is practically involved in every Chelsea attack and the recent tweak in formation has helped him to be more centrally direct to the attack.
Hazard was unable to replicate his trophy winning form in the last season and as a result, Chelsea miserably failed to defend their Premier League title. Without Hazard, we have seen Chelsea struggling so Antonio Conte has to make sure that the player remains fit for the rest of the season.
N’Golo Kante
The arrival of this midfielder has helped Chelsea immensely as the French midfielder has inherited his form in the last season. One cannot deny Kante’s contribution in Leicester City’s title triumph and if Chelsea does win the title, Kante will be one of the chief protagonists.
There has been no doubt over his quality but only after a single season at the King Power Stadium, his move could have been backfired for the Blues. But Antonio Conte has made sure that the midfielder gets enough opportunity in the middle of the park and the player has repaid the faith in unique fashion.
There is no room for any hiccups in the upcoming games as Spurs would pounce on any mistakes Chelsea make in the rest of the games.
Diego Costa
The Spaniard striker has been Conte’s preferable choice to lead the line this season. The Spanish international has scored on 17 occasions in the Premier League but hasn’t been able to find the back of the net in the last few games.
Costa has often been criticised for his temperament and behaviour but this season he is a lot improved player. He hardly goes for a tackle and he has been cautioned only eight times by the officials which is a vast improvement. If Chelsea are to win the title, Costa needs to back to his ferocious best.
