Of late, the Brazilian forward Phillipe Coutinho has been in the form of his life. He has been instrumental in leading Liverpool to their current third place position in the Premier League. Reportedly, the mercurial midfielder is being linked with a number of big name clubs, the Spanish giants Real Madrid being one of them.
The 11 times UEFA Champions League winners are currently in the second position in the Spanish La Liga. With one of their mainstays in the midfield, Luka Modric, seemingly leaving Santiago Bernabeu next season for German champions Bayern Munich, the Galacticos are in dire need to bring in someone of Coutinho’s stature to give stability to their midfield, and play a key role in scoring goals for them alongside Ronaldo, Bale and Kroos. The Spanish Champions can also lose Columbian forward James Rodriguez to the Premier League when the transfer window opens next season. This makes the possibility of Phillipe Coutinho coming into the Real Madrid side even stronger.
The mercurial Brazilian has been one of the reasons for Liverpool’s tremendous success this season. Paired with compatriot Roberto Firmino, Phillipe Coutinho has scored 10 goals this season and has assisted his teammates 6 times to score a goal. His powerful presence in the midfield has given the much-needed boost that Jurgen Klopp’s side to almost secure a place in next year’s Champions League.
Real Madrid’s arch rivals Barcelona has been on the Brazilian dazzler’s trail for quite some time. If their mercurial midfielder, Coutinho’s compatriot Neymar makes the move to his much-speculated destination Old Trafford this summer, the Catalan giants are almost sure to recruit Coutinho to fill up the gap beside Messi and Suarez. However, the Los Blancos are not going to give up their pursuit for the brilliant Brazilian without a valiant fight it seems.
Coutinho has been absolutely immaculate with his shot making and passing throughout the season. The Brazilian has a knack to score from set-piece situations and is equally good in scoring from open play. His amazing dribbling skills along with pinpoint passing makes him a prized possession for the Reds, and any team he tends to join in the future.
However, rumours are that the Brazilian is not ready to leave Anfield and is looking to offer his long-term allegiance to the Merseyside team. He has been very much frank about his admiration for Liverpool’s German coach Jurgen Klopp, and that might be a very strong reason for him to not leave the Premier League for some more years to come.
