Borussia Dortmund will try to look past their midweek massacre in order to get back to winning ways as they host Eintracht Frankfurt at the Signal Iduna Park.
The Black and Yellows are in desperate need of a win if they want to outwit third placed Hoffenheim in order to get a direct qualification into the Champions League next season. Eintracht on the other hand, are having a tough Ruckrunde so far.
Niko Kovac’s men will look to prevent Dortmund breaching their defence once again following a strong performance in the reverse fixture. Here is the predicted Dortmund lineup and team sheet which is expected to feature against the Eagles.
Goalkeeper: Roman Burki had a tough evening against Monaco in the midweek fixture in the Champions League. A strong performance this weekend should be warranted.
Right Wingback: Lukasz Piszczek’s mistake proved to be very costly for Thomas Tuchel’s men against Monaco. A solid performance this week might do a world of good for the veteran Polish International.
Center Back(R): Sokratis’ dogged defending will be extremely important against this swift attacking Eintracht side. Especially against the rough attackers such as Ante Rebic and Haris Seferovic.
Centre Back: Even though Sven Bender probably had his worst night in his career this week, the 28-year-old still plays a key part in the defence of the Black and Yellows. Although he needs to do better than guiding the ball in his own net.
Center Back(L): Matthias Ginter will be wary of the opposition’s pace in breaking out. The 23-year-old has a rather bleak future with his current side but a strong showing against Eintracht might be a start of good things for the former Freiburg defender.
Left Wingback: Marcel Schmelzer has been horrid in his last two games, mostly due to lack of fitness. While he should be 100% fit for the clash this weekend, guiding the team in the right direction will be equally important.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Julian Weigl will play a vital role in this contest. He will come up against the likes of Omar Mascarell, a player very similar to his playing style. It will be fascinating to see how well these two perform in the middle for their respective sides.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Nuri Sahin’s speech after the game melted everyone’s heart. The Turkish International went very emotional following a good outing against the French outfit. He is expected to start the game alongside Weigl as they look to dominate the opposition.
Right Wing: Christian Pulisic had a bright spark after coming on in the second half, which might earn him a place in the starting lineup against Frankfurt. The American will be a key in breaking down Niko Kovac’s well-drilled defence.
Left Wing: Although Ousmane Dembele has been incredibly disappointing in the past few matches, he still remains to be one of the crucial attacking assets for Dortmund. His pace and individual qualities will be in need on Saturday.
Striker: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will be looking to outwit Robert Lewandowski in the chase for the top goal scorer in Europe. He is currently just one goal behind the Polish striker.
