Watford will be seeking to continue their form when they head to the White Hart Lane to face Tottenham Hotspur. Having won back to back matches, Walter Mazzarri’s side are currently high on confidence and will not be an easy opponent to face.
The victory against the Baggies has helped them to rise up to ninth place in the Premier League table. Watford haven’t been consistent throughout this season but the Hornets have started dreaming of achieving a top ten finish at the end of the season.
Chelsea will be looking forward to this match as a draw or a win for Watford will hand them an added advantage in the title race. Meanwhile, if the other results go their way, Spurs could cut back the gap to just four points with the table toppers.
Predicted 4-5-1 Watford Lineup Against Tottenham Hotspur
Defence
Heurelho Gomes has given a solid performance so far for the Hornets. The 36-year-old has kept two clean sheets in the last two matches and would be hoping for another one.
Miguel Britos is carrying a suspension after he got the marching orders in the last match and will be replaced by Craig Cathcart. Sebastian Prodl has put in decent performances so far and he needs to be on top of the game to stop the Spurs attackers.
Jose Holebas has the knack of surging forward and has racked up four assists this season. His duel with Kyle Walker will be very interesting.
Daryl Janmaat will get a start in the right back position.
Midfield
Mazzari has played with a five-man midfield and is set to continue with this formation. Abdoulaye Doucoure will be the centre most among the five midfielders. The 24-year-old will try to strike a balance between the defence and the midfield.
Etienne Capoue has been the best player for the Hornets and will try to capitalise on his form.
Tom Cleverley has recently signed a contract to make his stay permanent at the club and would be very eager to repay the faith.
M’Baye Niang has hogged all the limelight with his screamer against the Baggies. The AC Milan loanee will be on the left wing and will try to create something similar to deal a blow to Spurs.
Nordin Amrabat will try to impact the game from his right-wing slot.
Attack
After the departure of Ighalo, Troy Deeney has all the workload and he has delivered to some extent. The 28-year-old scored the 100th goal for Watford in the Premier League in the last match against West Bromwich Albion.
