FC Bayern will be looking to overcome their rough patch, in which they are winless in their last five games, as the record champions travel to Wolfsburg.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men will eye nothing less than a win, which will surely guarantee their fifth Bundesliga title. The Bavarians however, are coming on the back of two cup eliminations at the hands of Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid respectively and will be low on confidence prior to the game.
Here is the predicted Bayern lineup for their clash against the Wolves.
Goalkeeper: Sven Ulreich did the best he could against Dortmund but he comes nowhere in filling the boots of Manuel Neuer, who will miss the rest of the season due to injury. The former Stuttgart goalie will look to prove his worth against the likes of Mario Gomez and his old teammate, Daniel Didavi.
Right Back: It’s highly doubtful whether Philip Lahm will start or not. If he doesn’t, Rafinha will take the charge on the right side of the defence. Over the years, the Brazilian has proved to be an able backup for the German world champion.
Center Back(R): Jerome Boateng came on for limping Mats Hummels in the second half in their semifinal clash against Dortmund in midweek. He is expected to start this game ahead of Hummels, who will probably miss out the encounter due to injury.
Center Back(L): Javi Martinez has probably experienced the horrific sequence of matches in his career against Dortmund and Real Madrid. His undercooked back pass lead to Dortmund’s resurgence in the second half. He will look to put up a strong fight this time.
Left Back: David Alaba was hugely underwhelming against Dortmund. The Austrian star fullback failed to impress against the likes of Piszczek and Dembele. He should be looking for a much-improved performance this weekend.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Arturo Vidal will play as the central figure in Bayern midfield due to the possible absence of Xabi Alonso from the starting lineup. The Chilean had a good match against Dortmund and he will look to follow that up with an equally good performance.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Thiago Alcantara will move deeper to help out Vidal in midfield. His amazing form has somewhat taken a halt in the last few matches but he will once again have the opportunity to resurrect himself against Wolfsburg.
Right Wing: Douglas Costa might start the game ahead of Arjen Robben. The Brazilian winger was hugely rumoured for a move away from the Allianz Arena providing Bayern getting a reasonable fee for the former Shakhtar man.
Central Attacking Midfielder: Thomas Muller will be given the start as the centre attacking midfielder. He has proven to be useful when taking up the team’s creativity in the final third. Bayern fans will be hoping for a great performance from their club favourite.
Left Wing: Franck Ribery has shown good form even in the worst games for FC Bayern. Carlo Ancelotti will sure acknowledge that fact and put him into the starting XI against Wolfsburg.
Striker: Robert Lewandowski has been off-color in the past few matches, mostly because of the tight marking by the oppositions. Wolfsburg will be looking to execute a similar gameplan if they want to stop the Polish International.
