A promotion to the English top tier is only a matter of few matches for Newcastle United. The Magpies will host the struggling Burton Albion to edge a step ahead towards their much-awaited reunion with the Premier League.
Newcastle were relegated to the Championship in the last season alongside Aston Villa and Norwich City. While Aston Villa and Norwich have failed to inspire themselves, Newcastle had the belief from the start of the season and have played with an intent throughout. As a result, the Magpies are currently leading the table and are on the verge of a return to the Premier League once again.
Burton will be coming from a 1-0 morale-boosting win over Huddersfield Town and Newcastle will have to battle it out in the search of a victory. They are currently topping the table with 81 points and with the quality they have, they are currently looking very dangerous.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Newcastle United Lineup Against Burton Albion
Defence
Karl Darlow has featured in 30 Championship matches this term and so far has done a brilliant job in the Newcastle goal. Darlow will once again try to make a point and will be the shot-stopper at the St James Park.
Jamaal Lascelles has been handed the captaincy this season and he has repaid the faith by marshalling the Magpies defence with utter confidence.
Grant Hanley was a part of the side that won 2-1 against Wigan Athletic and will continue at the heart of the defence with Lascelles.
Paul Dummett has played in the Premier League with the club and this season he has played every minute of the Championship featuring in 38 matches so far. The 25-year-old will try to find a gap in the opposition defence with his marauding runs.
Vurnon Anita is set to be in the starting lineup and will start from the opposite side of the defence.
Midfield
Jack Colback has been a mainstay in the Magpies midfield and will be the holding midfielder for his side.
Jonjo Shelvey has thrived under Benitez and will try to loosen up the opponent’s defence.
Attack
Since his transfer from Bournemouth, Matt Ritchie has been one of the most consistent performers for Newcastle. The versatile player will try to build an attack from the right side.
Yoan Gouffran will be on the left wing.
Mohamed Diame has to work out to find a gap in the Wigan defence from just behind the striker.
Dwight Gayle is having a dream season and will try to continue his form upfront.
