Manchester United struggled to get past a jubilant West Bromwich Albion as the Red Devils were held on to a frustrating goalless draw by the Baggies. They will now host Everton on 5th April in a midweek game to continue their quest of making it to the top four.
Jose Mourinho’s side will be boosted by the return of Ander Herrera and Zlatan Ibrahimovic along with Pogba who has returned to training. Herrera was booked in the FA Cup quarterfinals against Chelsea and had to sit out in the match while Zlatan will make his first appearance after serving a three-match ban for elbowing Bournemouth’s Tyron Mings.
Injuries have been a problem for Mourinho this season and the story continues. Chris Smalling and Phil Jones are expected to be long-term absentees while Juan Mata won’t be available as he recently underwent a groin surgery.
United will not settle for anything but three points. On the day when Chelsea lost to Crystal Palace, United couldn’t take the advantage as they did everything possible against Tony Pulis’ side except getting past Ben Foster.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Manchester United Lineup Against Everton
Defence
Except for a frightening moment, David De Gea had a quiet afternoon at the Old Trafford against the Baggies. The Spanish international will be looking to continue his trade in the Manchester United goal.
Ashley Young gave a very positive performance and is likely to continue in the left back role.
Marcos Rojo and Eric Bailly gave a solid performance in the last match and Mourinho will once again give them the responsibility to deal with the Everton attack.
Antonio Valencia will take the place on the right side of the defence.
Midfield
Michael Carrick will continue in the holding midfield role. He controlled the game quite beautifully and will try to soak up the pressure in the midfield to ease pressure on the other players.
Ander Herrera will be back in the starting lineup after serving a one-match suspension. Herrera’s absence was clearly visible and Jose Mourinho can’t afford to bench one of his most influential players.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan had an off day against Pulis’ side but will try to re-energize himself by putting up a good display against the Toffees.
Attack
Anthony Martial gave the Baggies defender a tough run and was very unfortunate not to find himself on the scoring list. He will have the responsibility to attack from the left flank.
Jesse Lingard was all over the pitch and was very involved in the game. With a number of players sidelined, Lingard is expected to make it to the starting lineup.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will try to make amends fo his missing games.
