Ronald Koeman’s Everton failed to press on for a place in the Europa League as they failed to take more than a point from their trip to the Olympic stadium this weekend. The Hammers have not been in great form recently but they managed to keep the Everton attack quiet for most of the game, to take home a point. The Toffees dominated the possession statistics but created nowhere enough chances to win all three points as the fans were left unimpressed by the performance. Here are the player ratings for Koeman’s side in this 0-0 stalemate:
Maarten Stekelenburg (6):
Put in a commanding performance, keeping West Ham at bay, in his first game since the turn of the year, helping himself to a clean sheet.
Mason Holgate (5):
Started the game confidently but was tested constantly by the West Ham side that started to turn the screw on in the second half.
Leighton Baines (7):
Arguably the best player on the pitch at both ends for Everton, Baines kept his flank away from danger and also created a couple of half-chances on a frustrating night.
Ashley Williams (6):
Was hardly troubled, except for that one moment with Chiekhou Kouyate on a comfortable night for the defender.
Phil Jagielka (6):
Made it tough for West Ham to even have a shot at goal as he put in a dominating performance to keep the Hammers away from his goal.
Morgan Schneiderlin (6):
Had a rather comfortable game but was not consistent throughout as he had his moments facing his own goal.
Idrissa Gueye (6):
His only blemish on the night was his yellow card, which was forced on him by Schneiderlin’s ball that almost put Calleri through on goal. Had a decent game throughout.
Tom Davies (6):
Stuck to his task well in the middle of the field but did not do enough to ensure that his side would win this tie and was subbed off early in the second half.
Ross Barkley (6):
Put in the hard yards as he tried to drive his side forward with every opportunity but didn’t create enough in the final third to steal all three points.
Kevin Mirallas (5):
Looked dangerous in bursts but nowhere near consistent enough to help Everton to a victory on the night.
Romelu Lukaku (5):
Should have scored early in the game but once he missed, he started fading away and provided little help for his side in attack till the final whistle.
Subs:
Gareth Barry (6):
Came in to add some mettle to the midfield but his biggest contribution was a blatant foul on Andre Ayew which saw him pick up a booking.
Ademola Lookman (6):
Injected some excitement into Everton’s attack in the second half but was not enough to lift the Toffees to a victory on the night.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin (6):
Came on with just over 15 minutes to go and did not have enough time to create the opener in the game.
