After drubbing Chelsea in the last match, Manchester United will host Anderlecht with the aim to go through to the Europa League last four. United would be hoping to build on their solitary away goal and a goalless draw would be enough for them to seal a place in the semifinals.
Manchester United have both form and momentum on their side and should use this opportunity to seize the tie. Henrikh Mkhitaryans’s goal could have sealed the first leg but a late equaliser from Leander Dendoncker has kept the tie alive. A top four finish is seemingly possible but Mourinho would love to win the Europa League which United haven’t won in their history.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Manchester United Starting Lineup Against Anderlecht
Defence
Sergio Romero set to be handed over the charge of Manchester United goal. The Argentine international’s confidence on the ball should be enough to earn him a place in the starting lineup. He has been the keeper in the Europe for Mourinho and will continue to do his job.
The pair of Eric Bailly and Marcos Rojo was outstanding in the last match against Chelsea as the Blues couldn’t register a single shot for the first time in this season. The arrival of Eric Bailly has solidified the United defence as we often see him leading the United defence from the front.
Marcos Rojo has somehow been a revelation in the United defence. The Argentine defender has been a thorn for United’s opponents as he continues his revival under the guidance of Mourinho.
We might see some action from Luke Shaw. The defender hasn’t participated in the last match but given the current form, Mourinho has to field his best starting lineup and Shaw fits in that.
Antonio Valencia’s physical presence would come handy in this match and his leadership qualities have helped the team in past.
Midfield
After giving a man of the match performance, Ander Herrera is a sure-shot starter in this match. A replication of his form would be great for the Red Devils.
Stakes will be higher for this match and Marouane Fellaini has to put up a strong display in the middle of the park to control the game.
Paul Pogba’s attacking ability will once again come under scrutiny as the French midfielder heads towards the match.
Attack
The Europa League seems to be the favourite competition for Henrikh Mkhitaryan as he has netted four goals so far in this tournament. He will be the man for United to give them a breakthrough.
Marcus Rashford is a definite starter on the left flank.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be returning to the starting lineup to head the line.
