Time is ticking away as Leeds United’s chance of finishing in the playoff position is looking slightly difficult as of now. Garry Monk’s side will now face Burton Albion in the next match to revive their hopes of ending their 13 years run without Premier League football.
Garry Monk’s side got a huge jolt to their playoff hopes when Wolves shocked them with a 1-0 win in the last match. They had to move out from the top six and now they are sitting in the seventh position. However, they do know that win in all the next three matches would provide them with an opportunity to rub shoulders with the other teams in the playoffs.
Predicted 4-2-3-1 Leeds United Lineup Against Burton Albion
Defence
Robert Green needs to be faultless in the Leeds goal. The 37-year-old has been the preferred choice for Monk and the gaffer would be once again seeking his brilliance as Leeds are eyeing a playoff spot.
Kyle Bartley and Pontus Jansson have built an enormous partnership at the heart of the defence and will have to be much disciplined defensively. They have a very good understanding with each other and have to be at their best.
Gaetano Berardi has had a decent season and looked good in flashes. He needs to have a good start to give Leeds an upper hand in this important match.
Luke Ayling needs to pile pressure on the Burton wide man with his surging runs.
Midfield
Monk won’t tweak his midfield setup and should stick with his usual personnel.
Liam Bridcutt cannot allow the Burton players to play with rhythm and he has to break up the attacks to give an extra cushion of protection to the four-man backline.
Kalvin Phillips will be playing in a bit advanced role as he needs to link up the play.
Much will be depending on how the midfielder do their job as Leeds can’t afford another point loss.
Attack
Alfonso Pedraza has to use every chance that comes his way. Leeds failed to convert their chances in the last few matches but they cannot repeat this against Burton.
Pablo Hernandez will operate from the hole behind the main striker. He has the ability to deliver the final ball with utter perfection.
Kemar Roofe needs to fire in this crucial game. The 24-year-old will have another chance to impress Monk.
It’s been Chris Wood who has stepped up on every occasion and once again the onus will be on him to put up a good show.
