Tony Pulis has worked wonders with the current West Bromwich Albion squad as he has taken them to the eighth place in the points table, with just six games to go this season.
They have little chance of qualifying for the Europa League but the manager will know that a couple of additions to the current squad can make them contenders for that place next season.
This has seen him linked with some star players and one player who he is desperate to sign this summer is French star Mamadou Sakho.
The Liverpool defender had a strange turn of events at the end of the previous season as a drug test by WADA all but ended his chances in the EURO16 in France.
He came back into the new season, devoid of all such allegations but his antics in the pre-season tour to the US angered Jurgen Klopp, who decided to freeze him out. Crystal Palace managed to steal him on a loan in January and boy has he been good.
In his time with Palace, Sakho has lost just one game, that against Southampton, and has kept four clean sheets in this time, lifting the Eagles out of the drop zone. He has been exceptional against some of the best in the league and is surely going to attract a lot of interest this summer.
The French star is not a ball playing defender but he is more than capable of setting up attacks from the back. But his biggest strength is his ability to stay strong even against better opponents. He is a solid defender who is not afraid to put himself on the line neither does he back out of a fight if needed.
He is a top-class athlete, without too many haters but Jurgen Klopp has not been able to forget the pre-season tour and does not look like he will give him a chance at Anfield.
Gareth McAuely has been in sensational form this season for the Baggies and has been partnered well by Jonny Evans for the most of the season.
Evans is still 29 and may remain at the club next season but it is hard to see a 37-year old McAuley start regularly for the Baggies next season. Tony Pulis does not have a centre backs ready to walk into the first team and he will have to spend on one this summer.
And there are very few options in the marker better than Sakho at the moment. His experience in the Premier League will certainly help and at 27, he is at the peak of his career and Pulis can make his side one of the most reliable at the back if he sends on the Frenchman from Liverpool. But do you think Sakho is the right man for West Brom this summer?
