With their recent comeback into the Premier League, Newcastle United are looking to bag a number of players who can make the side strong enough to face teams like Chelsea, Manchester United, Arsenal and Manchester City. Already a number of prospective signings in their list, the Magpies are looking to secure the services of the Southampton forward Jay Rodriguez for the next season.
Jay Rodriguez has been one of the young English players with a lot of potential for the future. However, lack of time spent on the pitch is reportedly frustrating the 27-year-old forward and he wants a move away from St Mary’s.
Newcastle are currently looking for a quality strike partner to play alongside their prized possession Dwight Gayle, and the English international looks to completely fit the bill. Rodriguez has scored five for the Saints this season, but the lack of opportunities has kept the forward from showing his true potential.
Reportedly, Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez has also made bids for youngsters like Tom Cairney from fellow Championship side Fulham and Ryan Shawcross from Stoke City. Rumours are that there will be a few offloads this season from the Magpies and a number of new inclusions as well.
As per reports, Benitez will be holding talks with the club authorities for a £100 million purse to bring in some of the best players to revamp his current side. Rumours are catching wind that apart from players like Matt Ritchie, Jonjo Shelvey and Dwight Gayle, no other player is sure to keep his place in the newly promoted Newcastle side.
Jay Rodriguez has been one of the best young players in England in the recent times. His uncanny ability to cut inside the opposition defence makes him a wily player. His accurate passes have the ability to open doors for his teammates to score goals. His crosses into the attacking third can also torment his opponents from time to time.
Apart from Newcastle United, the England international has been pursued by a number of other clubs including West Bromwich Albion. Tony Pulis has been much appreciative about the youngster and has been looking for a long time to bring him to the Hawthorns.
As per reports, Pulis tried to get his hands on Rodriguez during the last transfer window, with a bid worth £12 million. However, Southampton rejected the bid and the transfer fell through. Speculations are being made about Pulis’ making a renewed bid to bag the youngster this season again.
