It has been yet another season when Manchester United have fallen short of meeting their yardsticks and this is becoming a cause of concern now for the Red Devils’ faithful who were used to bagging silverwares and dominating almost every side they lined up against.
Despite the injection of truckloads of money, something or the other has gone on to have been missing from their setup and this campaign, the striking department has been a bit of concern.
Manchester United are currently placed 6th on the league table with 54 points from 29 games in the top flight and intriguingly, they have banged merely 43 goals so far, which is the lowest number of goals scored by a side placed in the top 7 of the table. On many occasions, finding the back of the net has been an issue for Jose Mourinho’s side and frankly speaking, the Portuguese would be keen to land a sensational striker in the summer.
One of the players to have been heavily linked with a move to the Old Trafford in the next transfer window is Torino’s serial goal scorer, Andrea Belotti.
The Italian has been in a brutally ruthless form in Serie A this season, as he has already bagged 23 goals and registered 3 assists from 27 appearances and has emerged as one of the finest poachers which the Italian top flight has on offer. Mourinho is believed to have been compelled by Belotti and is longing to have him under his command next season.
The 23-year-old has an exemplary knack to bury the chances that are offered to him, is effective on his either foot and carves openings for his side time and again. Further, he has the tendency to drift into key areas and is very difficult to mark owing to his pace and presence of mind.
Despite being in his early twenties, he has shown immense maturity and has the technical edge present in him as well. Belotti toils relentlessly throughout the pitch and contributes defensively as well, which makes him a perfect commodity for any top quality side.
His contribution in the final third is much more than just scoring goals, for he creates chances for his teammates as well and has been Torino’s best player this season.
Manchester United are in dire need of a gunman who could score goals regularly for them and thus, their apparent interest to sign Belotti does make perfect sense.
