It’s time for Borussia Derby in the Bundesliga! As two well-known Borussia outfits go head to head against each other in a tight encounter, which is known as the Borussia Derby. Both the Borussias, however, have struggled to perform this season. Borussia Dortmund are currently in fourth place and trailing third-placed Hoffenheim by one point while Monchengladbach are in an even worse situation with 39 points, they are dawdling in 10th position in the table. A win will be vital for both the sides, especially for the away side, Borussia Dortmund who will aim to overtake Julian Nagelsmann’s TSG for a direct place in the Champions League next season. Here is the predicted Borussia Dortmund lineup to feature against Gladbach on Saturday’s top encounter.
Goalkeeper: Fans will expect a better performance from Roman Burki, who ended up conceding three goals to Monaco. The Swiss goalkeeper, though, has been in great touch in the Bundesliga thus far and will look for a clean sheet.
Right Back: It has been quite a difficult week for Lukasz Piszczek. After messing it all up in the first leg against Monaco, the Polish defender was criticised for his performance in the second leg as well. He needs to have a better outing if he wants to sustain his place in the starting XI next season.
Centre Back(R): Sokratis Papastathopoulos has been a giant in the back for Dortmund this season. The Greek defender has been in great form and will lead his side from the back against Gladbach.
Centre Back(L): Sven Bender might be a better option for coach Thomas Tuchel than Matthias Ginter. The former Mainz boss chose the latter in midweek’s game and it ended up as a horrible decision. So a start might be on the cards for Sven Bender.
Left Back: Marcel Schmelzer will start as the left back for Dortmund. He is sure to have a tough evening against the Gladbach attackers on the left flank.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Julian Weigl failed to prove himself against Monaco over the span of two legs but has a greater chance to prevail himself against the weak midfield of Gladbach. The contest between Julian Weigl and his soon-to-be teammate Mahmoud Dahoud will be interesting.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Gonzalo Castro might get the nod ahead of Nuri Sahin for the encounter. The Turkish midfielder was out of colour versus Monaco while Gonzalo Castro will starting a match after a long time.
Right Midfield: Ousmane Dembele will start as the right winger for Dortmund. The Frenchman was surprisingly left on the bench versus Monaco, which proved to be quite costly for Tuchel at the end but he finally had to call on the young winger after just thirty minutes.
Central Attacking Midfielder: Shinji Kagawa will once again be the cog in the Dortmund attack against Gladbach. The Japanese might play an even crucial role as Gladbach like to work on the counter under new boss Dieter Hecking. Using spaces in the middle will mean a lot for the Dortmund attackers.
Left Wing: Marco Reus will be up against his former club once again. He has an incredibly good record against Gladbach in the past and normally performs excellently versus the Foals. He will look to keep up that good record this weekend as well.
Striker: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will look to score a few goals after a rather quiet week. The Gabonese superstar managed only one goal in his last three outings all competitions. If he wants to steal the top scorer crown from Robert Lewandowski, then scoring a couple of goals against the Foals is a necessity.
