Mesut Ozil is currently one of the best players in the world and has been an integral part of the Arsenal line-up since his arrival to the Emirates Stadium back in 2014. The German midfielder, paired with the Chilean forward Alexis Sanchez, have been an important factor in ensuring a place for the Gunners in the top four of the Premier League for the last few seasons.
In this year’s FA Cup as well, Ozil has played a big role in taking Arsenal to the final. It was the German playmaker’s free kick, that freed up Alexis Sanchez to put one past Manchester City in extra time at Wembley.
However, Ozil is reportedly not happy with the way his current contract situation, which expires at the end of the next season, has been handled by the London club and is looking for a pay hike in his new deal. Rumours are that if it does not go as per plan, Ozil might look to quit the Emirates this summer.
Even with a number of clubs interested in him, the midfield maestro might choose to move to Arsenal’s arch rivals Manchester United next season, where his prior experience of playing under the current Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho in their time at Real Madrid might play its role.
Manchester United are reportedly interested in bringing the in-form attacker Antoine Griezmann from Atletico Madrid this summer. However, with the Frenchman currently looking happy at the Spanish club, it looks like Mesut Ozil is the best option that the Red Devils have before them right now.
Having scored 11 goals and picked up 11 assists in all competitions for the Gunners in the current season, Mesut Ozil has been mercurial in the midfield. His excellent dribbling skills along with amazing ball control have made him a real threat for the opposition teams. The German player has been productive in scoring goals from both set piece situations as well as open play.
His darting runs into the opposition half and ability to supply pinpoint passes and lethal crosses for his teammates to score goals has made him arguably the best assist-maker in the Europe. He has seven assists to his name this season in the Premier League.
The Red Devils boss has been all praises for the German star and has reportedly been looking for a reunion with him in the forthcoming season, more so, following the rumoured exit of Wayne Rooney from Old Trafford this summer. However, the Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has not made any comment regarding the rumoured swoop of Mesut Ozil to Manchester United. Do you think the Red Devils can land the German playmaker this summer?
