Sunderland will try a last ditch attempt in a bid to survive in the Premier League when they host Bournemouth at the Stadium Of Light. Relegation is looming large and their drop will be confirmed if they lose their next match against the Cherries and Hull City doesn’t drop points against Southampton.
It would be miraculous if Sunderland somehow survives relegation which is looking very dark at the moment. Sunderland had a great chance to renew their hopes of survival but they maintained their dismal run as they lost against fellow relegation rivals Middlesbrough.
The Black Cats remain at the bottom of the Premier League table and are 12 points clear of Hull City who are just outside the relegation zone in 17th place.
Predicted 4-3-3 Sunderland Lineup Against Bournemouth
Defence
Jordan Pickford has shown commendable performance in the goal throughout this awful season and has remained among very few of the players who have shown an intent among them. The England U-21 International has earned plaudits for his heroics for the Black Cats.
Sunderland have so far digested 59 goals due for their shoddy defending. There seemed to be no understanding between the defenders as they conceded a very silly goal in the last match against Middlesbrough as a result of some shocking defending. John O’Shea has been very poor but he is expected to get through in this match.
Jason Denayer will be partnering him in the heart of the defence in a hope to salvage some pride for them.
Javier Manquillo hasn’t had many chances this season but will get another chance to impress his boss.
Billy Jones has been pretty ordinary and will conduct the proceedings from the right side.
Midfield
Darron Gibson does have the tenacity to thrive in the midfield role. He will once again be deployed at the centre of midfield and will try to use his tenacity in this do or die game.
Didier Ndong was the only player who showed impeccable strength and drive in the last match against Middlesbrough. If Sunderland are to win the match he has to take the authority to control the game.
Ndong will have the help of Lee Cattermole who so far has featured only in a handful of matches.
Attack
Victor Anichebe is a tough nut to crack and he could be the solution to Sunderland’s goalscoring drought.
David Moyes would try to inject some fresh legs into the team by unleashing Wahbi Khazri to the starting lineup.
There will be no dilemma for the selection of Jermain Defoe up front.
