Manchester United are set to be one of the busiest clubs in the transfer window with Jose Mourinho desperately looking for a squad overhaul at the end of the season. The manager is looking to get in some of the biggest names in Europe but is also looking at possible youngsters who can come good in years to come and add depth to the squad. One such player who has now revealed that he dreams of a move to Manchester United is Jeison Lucumi.
The 22-year old Colombian star recently said, ‘My dream is to go to play for Manchester United and with God’s help I’ll achieve it’ speaking to AS Colombia. Born and brought up in Cauca, a municipality in Colombia, Lucumi is one of the most exciting players currently in the domestic arena in the country. He started his youth career as a teenager and has played more than 120 league games in his country.
A versatile attacker capable of playing on the flank or as a lone striker, Lucumi is an exciting star with gifted finishing abilities. He does not possess too many skills on the ball but is adept at using his physique to get the better of his opponents. He can play as a target man if needed but is also productive on the wing and is a decent option for Jose Mourinho.
He joined his current club America de Cali four year ago and has ever since a regular in the first team. He helped his side to promotion in the previous season and has four goals in 13 domestic games this season. He is also on the fringes of a place in the national team and is a player who Mourinho would love in his team.
The Red Devils will be a bit short in attack next season as they are set to lose the likes of Juan Mata, Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney at the end of the season. Mourinho is looking at some of the biggest names in Europe to replace them in the first team and it is hard to see Lucumi be a part of this revolution.
At just 22, the Colombian attacker has gathered some valuable experience but he is still not developed enough to play for a club of United’s stature. He is yet to play a game out of his country and will take a long time to adjust to the challenges of the Premier League. But he is an exciting star and Mourinho would not want to miss out on a chance to add him to his books at Old Trafford.
So the Red Devils might be tempted to sign him up this summer to send him back out on loan at a club where he can learn more about the game. Do you think Manchester United should consider a move for Lucumi this summer?
