According to various reports, Arsenal superstar Alexis Sanchez has decided to part ways with the club at the end of the season after Arsenal’s chances of finishing in the top four has become extremely tough. The Chilean has been Arsenal’s top scorer this season and the club is willing to take desperate measures to retain his services.
There were also reports that the Gunners are willing to offer the £300,000-a-week contract that the South-American has asked for, although their manager Arsene Wenger has expressed his disagreement in breaking the club’s wage structure to satisfy one player. However, after his brilliant goal against Middlesbrough on Monday, which helped Arsenal to get back into winning ways on the away fixtures, the manager would surely have to reconsider his decision.
Not winning a silverware has been a prime factor in Sanchez’s discomfiture at the club and the 28-year-old’s ambition will definitely play an important role in choosing his next club. Though nothing is assured as of now with the manager postponing all contract talks with him until after the season, we look at the club that would fit the player best if he leaves Arsenal-
Chelsea- Links of Alexis Sanchez moving to Arsenal’s London rival emerged only after the Chilean expressed his desire to stay in London and play for a team with winning mentality. It is a very distant possibility that Arsenal would sell their star player to Chelsea anytime in the future, given the fierce rivalry that has developed between the teams over the past decade.
To top that, Chelsea might be running away with the league this season, but they finished 10th last time, which indicates their inconsistency and how poor they can be. Definitely not a team with stability and a winning mentality to hold on.
Paris Saint-Germain- Among all the teams vying for him, this Ligue 1 side has the highest possibility of landing the Chilean winger. After turning into a billionaire club only a few seasons back, the French side now has the stature and money to offer Sanchez. But, while they have dominated the domestic league, which has little to no competition, they have failed to win the European competition.
While Sanchez will definitely play with some of the best players across Europe if he joins there, the Ligue 1 side seems to lack the unity and determination as a team to win things.
Manchester City- The one and only reason, which can pull Sanchez to the Manchester outfit, is their manager, Pep Guardiola. The Spaniard shares a cordial relationship with the Chilean, whom he had managed during their stint with Barcelona. And while Sanchez hasn’t been the most productive of assets under him, the manager is willing to give it another shot.
Arsenal’s unwillingness to sell Sanchez to City is, of course, a different story altogether.
