Antonio Conte’s Chelsea are one of the many clubs that were alerted to the contract situation of one Kingsley Coman at Bayern Munich. Currently, at close to the end of a two-year loan spell at the Allianz Arena, the Juventus man has failed to have the kind of an impact he would have hoped under Carlo Ancelotti this season.
Bayern are reportedly looking to activate his £21m release clause this summer but Coman, with the lack of playing time, is reportedly stalling on a new deal. Chelsea’s Conte is now looking at the youngster as a possible addition to his squad this summer. So how does Coman fit in at Chelsea?
Having made just 16 Bundesliga appearances, Coman has just two goals and has not started a Champions League game this season. At just 20, he is one of the most exciting stars in Europe at the moment and is a versatile player who will improve most squads that he walks into. The likes of Manchester City and Arsenal are also interested in his signature but could he be a decent option for the Blues?
A versatile winger, who can play productively on either flank in attack, Coman is an exceptional dribbler, who can get past even the best of the defenders. He loves to beat his man and get behind the defence but is also adept at playing short passes to work around the backline. For a 20-year-old, Coman has displayed great strength that allows him to hold the ball up and this is something that will make him a hit in the Premier League.
Conte has used the likes of Eden Hazard, Pedro and Willian on the flanks this season. He will need another one or two players in this position to allow the club to compete on all four fronts next season and Coman is a superb option for the English club.
Though not prolific in front of goal, Coman is a player who will put in the hard yards and his creativity in the final third will surely help improve the quality in Chelsea’s squad. Though he may not find a place in the first team straight away, Coman has less competition at the Bridge than he has at the Allianz this season and this could see him strive for a first team place and improve himself as a player.
Conte is a decent man manager and knows his targets well. He knows what he needs at the club next season and if he has got his eye on Coman, the French youngster is sure to have a future at the Stamford Bridge. At just 20, he has enough time to grow into a superstar, but do you think that will be at Chelsea?
