Celtic have been brutally bulldozing past their opponents in the domestic competitions and have already bagged the Scottish Premiership title. Still unbeaten in the league, the Bhoys are seemingly likely to earn themselves the tag of being an invincible side to register a league triumph and without any shadow of a doubt, the tutelage of Brendan Rodgers has had a major role to play in the cultivation of the same.
After carving an apparently unassailable form in the domestic competitions, it is their betterment in the Champions League which should be prioritised by Rodgers next season.
The Scottish giants failed to generate any sort of flamboyance in the lucrative competition and would be eager to prove their mettle on the grandest stage.
However, to win games in the competition where the best clubs across the continent participate, the Celts would need a genuine leader on the pitch who has truckloads of experience.
Chelsea and their skipper, John Terry, have recently arrived at a conclusion that they would not be extending the contract of the Englishman which is due to expire in the summer. Ever since Antonio Conte has been implementing his 3-5-2 formation, Terry has found opportunities very hard to find and so far this season, he could muster merely 5 appearances in the Premier League.
However, even now when he is a 36-year-old, it appears as if he still has the mettle to ply his trade for a year or two with a side not as demanding as the Blues and this is where Celtic come into the equation.
Terry is a player with proven pedigree who has been the face of Chelsea Football Club for over a decade. It comes impliedly that at some point of a footballer’s career, he begins to wane and it becomes too huge an ask for him to perform at the highest level of the game, particularly in the hostile environment which the Premier League offers on its tray week in and week out. He has been tipped for a move to the Celtic Park and it would probably be a welcome change to his career.
The Scottish football would enable him to perform with lesser pressure and in this process, the green and white crop would be laying their hands on one of the finest leaders and defenders which the English soil has ever produced. He is a Champions League winner as well apart from bundles of other accolades and would be a resilient addition to the former Liverpool manager’s central defence as well.
