Celtic have bulldozed past almost every challenge they have had to encounter so far this season on the domestic soil. With the League Cup and Scottish Premiership title already in their bag, the Celts are due to play Aberdeen on 27th May at Hampden in the Scottish Cup final, winning which would earn them a domestic treble. Brendan Rodgers and his troops have indeed set high standards for themselves this season and the continuation of the same next season would hold paramount importance.
The Hoops would have to solidify their squad in the summer and the midfield would be one of the areas they would be inclined to solidify. Rodgers has a perennial knack of giving promising youngsters a platform to show their calibre and this season has been no different as we have seen how destructive the likes of Kieran Tierney and Moussa Dembele have been for their opponents. One of the players whom the former Liverpool manager could possibly target is Bournemouth Emerson Hyndman, who was reportedly enquired about earlier this month.
On loan to Celtic’s arch-rivals Rangers, Hyndman has really impressed for the Gers this season, having scored 4 goals in 13 appearances for them. His ability to eject shrewd passes, holding on to the ball and ability to carve adequate goal scoring opportunities for his teammates have caught a lot of attention. The 21-year-old is basically a deep-lying playmaker who could even ply his trade as a box-to-box midfielder and despite his tender age, he has shown immense technical edge and is destined to be one of the finest players of his generation.
In the blink of an eye, he knits amazing offensive movements by marshalling his teammates forwards along with him, stays back to shield the backline meticulously when needed, is a superb presser and his movements on and off the ball are simply exemplary. Moreover, he has the requisite vision of top notch and having acquired the taste of Scottish football with the Light Blues, he would not have to undergo the uphill task of acclimatising himself with the same and thus, could be a blossoming prospect at the Celtic Park.
However, the equation for such a transfer would certainly not be an easy one. One of the latest reports have stated that Fulham’s Tom Cairney is on the wish-list of Eddie Howe and interestingly, Hyndman plies his trade exactly in the same slot as Cairney. He is seemingly likely to muster marginal opportunities at the South Coast club should the deal materialise and considering the perception that he should be aiming for regular first-team opportunities at this point of his career, his move to Celtic should benefit all the parties involved.
