With the season coming to the business end, Leicester City have to pull up their socks if they want to see themselves in a better position. The Foxes travel to Selhurst Park to take on Crystal Palace in the next match.
The defending champions have endured a tough campaign as they had an awful start to their defence of their Premier League title. The Foxes have somehow rescued their season under the stewardship of Craig Shakespeare as they managed to win five back to back matches in the Premier League to give their erratic season a push. They are currently going through a transition period and any hiccups in the remaining fixtures would be a hindrance to their ambitions.
Leicester also have Champions League commitments as they have to play the reverse fixture which is due on 18th April against Atletico Madrid and Shakespeare has to make it sure that the players remain fresh ahead of the much-anticipated fixture.
Predicted 4-4-1-1 Leicester City Lineup Against Crystal Palace
Defence
Kasper Schmeichel will be again in the thick of the action against the Eagles. The 30-year-old was a vital part of the title winning squad and has maintained his form in the Foxes’ goal.
In the absence of Wes Morgan, Leicester City defence have coped up pretty well. Against a side like Atletico Madrid, they conceded only a single goal and that too from a penalty. Morgan is picking up his fitness but could miss the match as his gaffer won’t take a risk. In that case, he will stick to the defensive pair of Robert Huth and Yohan Benalouane.
Danny Simpson will have to be very aware as Palace have one of the deadliest wingers in the Premier League.
Christian Fuchs will have to deal with the pace and skill of Wilfried Zaha who has been in red-hot form.
Midfield
Danny Drinkwater will be in his usual box to box role. The 27-year-old England international’s agility and reliability in the middle of the park would be ideal against pressing side like Crystal Palace.
Onyinye Ndidi has been an industrious force in the midfield and will be handed the task to breaking up opponents attack.
Attack
Marc Albrighton hasn’t been able to replicate the kind of form he used to have in the last season. But he is expected to get the green light on the left flank.
Riyad Mahrez has been a mainstay on the right wing and will continue to make his presence felt.
Jamie Vardy and Shinji Okazaki will pair up front.
