Spanish Giants Real Madrid are currently having a number of problems defensively, especially with their current number 1 Keylor Navas, who does not seem to have any clue as to how to keep the opponent goal scorers at bay. It was evident from his lapses on display at the Santiago Bernabeu on the El Clasico night, which helped arch rivals Barcelona snatch away all three points from Real Madrid, putting three goals past the Costa Rican goalkeeper.
The Galacticos are sure of the fact that the current Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea has the key to improving their stats in terms of saving goals. The Spanish goalkeeper has been pursued for quite a long time by Real Madrid, with a deadline day deal, which looked almost certain a few seasons ago. But a technical problem at the last moment prevented that deal from going through.
This time though, the Galacticos look more determined than ever to acquire the services of the Spanish goalkeeper. Reportedly, the 11 time European Champions are looking set to make a bid worth £60 million, the highest amount offered by any club to bag a goalkeeper.
However, the news has reportedly been opposed by the current Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho, who has come out all guns blazing to deny the Spaniard’s move to Santiago Bernabeu. He has said very clearly in a public message that De Gea should concentrate on his career at Old Trafford rather than think of going to the Spanish capital.
The Galacticos are also reportedly bidding for the Belgian shot-stopper Thibaut Courtois in case David De Gea is not available to them this summer. The Belgian is hailed as one of the best goalkeepers in the world and can be the solution for Real Madrid’s woes on goal for the next season.
Interestingly, Thibaut Courtois was brought in to Atletico Madrid on loan from Chelsea as a replacement for David De Gea who moved to Manchester United in 2011. Courtois is held in the highest regard as one of the best goalkeepers having a bright future prospect ahead of him.
David De Gea’s exceptional ball handling abilities paired with his fearless attitude in any situation, and the fact that he is a very cool customer standing under the crossbars make him an immediate favourite. It goes without saying that the Galacticos will have to face fierce resistance from Premier League side Manchester United, the current club of the goalkeeping sensation, in order to make him wear their colours in the forthcoming season.
