Celtic have earned positive reviews for their onslaught on the teams in the top tier of Scottish football this season as they have successfully bulldozed past almost every opponent they have had to encounter. With 91 wins in 33 games in the Scottish Premiership, the Bhoys are yet to be defeated in the league and there has been an evident bridge of audacity and top quality performances between them and the rest on the domestic soil.
Without any shadow of a doubt, Brendan Rodgers must be a delighted man with the way things have transpired but then, supremacy in Europe is what he is eyeing for. The Celts crashed out of the Champions League very early once again as they succumbed to the quality which their fellow continental heavyweights have offered on the tray. Rodgers is likely to be focussed in his next assignment and should vouch for quality in the summer transfer window to bolster his squad.
Lee Tomlin should be one of the names to be scrutinized by the former Liverpool boss, and frankly speaking, he would be a shrewd addition to his armoury. Back in 2013, Tomlin was elated at the likelihood of the Scottish giants being interested to lure him to the Celtic Park from Peterborough United but the deal never materialized. He eventually moved to Middlesbrough where, despite being a decent player, he fell out with manager, Aitor Karanka and was then shipped to Bournemouth before ending up at Bristol City.
The 28-year-old has been exceptional for the Robins so far this season, as he has banged 5 goals and registered 6 assists in the Championship in 37 appearances. Lee Johnson’s men are clambering in the vicinity of the relegation zone and in a season which has been a disappointing one, Tomlin has been their silver lining. So, would it be wise from the green and white crops to strive for him after the end of the ongoing campaign?
A midfielder who could ply his trade anywhere in the midfield zone, the Englishman is a fine player to have in the ranks and his focussed mind coupled with exemplary ability of keeping the possession over the ball is indeed valuable. He knits the game meticulously in the middle of the park and acts as a lynchpin between the attacking and defensive setup of his employers. A move to the home of the Celts would arguably be a welcome adventure in his career and his experience and skills would really be cherished by the Celtic faithful.
