Tottenham Hotspur have a very important summer ahead of them at the end of the current season as a number of first team stars, who have been brilliant this season are attracting interests from around Europe for a move in the summer. The likes of Dele Alli, Danny Rose and Christian Eriksen have constantly been linked with an exit and one man who is now set for crunch talks with Mauricio Pochettino is Kyle Walker.
The English defender is among the best in his position in Europe and is the first choice for club and country at the moment. Though he signed a new contract less than a year ago, he is wanted by a host of clubs in England. So, if Pochettino cannot keep him, where will Walker play next season? Here are three possible destinations for the 26-year old this summer:
Manchester City:
Pep Guardiola is getting ready for a summer overhaul at Etihad and is looking to improve most positions in this squad. He is sure to look to improve on his backline and Walker is reportedly close to agreeing on a switch to Manchester this summer. The Etihad outfit has used the likes of Bacary Sagna, Pablo Zabaleta and a couple of midfielders in this position this season and have no real first choice at right-back. So Guardiola is convinced that he has to spend big to get in a top class right-back to the club and is looking at Walker as a potential option. Playing under a man manager like Guardiola might be enough for Walker to shift allegiances.
Manchester United:
Another club that is desperate for Walker is Manchester United. Jose Mourinho has used Antonio Valencia, Ashley Young and Matteo Darmian at right back this season but it is hard to see any of the three start regularly next season. Mourinho is already eyeing Serge Aurier from PSG but Walker is a less controversial option and his experience in the Premier League can tempt Mourinho to spend big on him this summer.
Barcelona:
Probably the most lucrative of offers for Kyle Walker is coming from Spain. Catalan giants Barcelona are set to make wholesale changes to their squad this summer with manager Luis Enrique also set to quit. The La Liga outfit are yet to replace Brazilian star Dani Alves at right back and though Sergi Roberto has been decent in that position, they will need a genuine right-back who can add to both ends of the field and there are very few options more productive than Walker in the current transfer market.
So where do you think Walker will play next season?
