Borussia Dortmund will have a last chance to get their hands on a trophy after a long time as they face off against FC Bayern in the semi-finals of the DFB cup. It was been another disappointing season for the Black and Yellows as they were knocked out by Monaco in the Champions League and were also beaten by Leipzig to the second place in the table.
The Ruhr giants will have full focus on the final Klassiker of this season as they look for silverware.
Here is the predicted Dortmund lineup to feature against the record champions on Wednesday.
Goalkeeper: Roman Burki had a great game against Gladbach as he pulled some couple of world class saves to keep his side in the game. The Swiss goalkeeper will look to improve his performance against the Bavarians.
Right Back: Lukasz Piszczek will be fresh ahead of the clash. The Polish International was rested against Gladbach but is expected start as the right back against Bayern. His experience will be a key for the visitors.
Centre Back: Sokratis is doubtful for the clash and his absence will be a blow for Thomas Tuchel. Sven Bender will deputise the Greek International if he missed out due to his muscular problems.
Centre Back: Matthias Ginter really needs to step up his performance. The former Freiburg defender has been completely awful this season and his future with Dortmund is in extreme doubt next season.
Left Back: Marcel Schmelzer is also amongst the players suffering from lack of form at the moment. The Dortmund vice-captain will have to be more clinical against the likes of Robben and Lahm on the left flank.
Central Defensive Midfielder: Julian Weigl will have a lot of responsibilities in midfield in the absence of Nuri Sahin. It will really be a challenging game for the 21-year-old and we expect he can prove his qualities to the team.
Right Wing: Ousmane Dembele might get the nod ahead of Christian Pulisic in the starting lineup. The Frenchman looked very dangerous against Carlo Ancelotti’s side in the past matches and he will once again be pivotal for the Black and Yellows upfront.
Central Midfield: Shinji Kagawa will be a cog in the Dortmund midfield. The one who will pull the strings in the middle. He needs to keep his amazing form intact if Dortmund are hoping to have any chance of outclassing Bayern.
Central Midfield: There’s a chance that Raphael Guerreiro might start ahead of Gonzalo Castro in the middle. The Portuguese is in a brilliant form at the moment and has the ability to turn the game on his head.
Left Wing: Marco Reus will lead his troops against the mighty Bayern side. The German International has been prolific since coming back from injury. He has already scored three goals in the three matches and he’s the only man who can really make a difference all by himself. Dortmund faithful should be hopeful for a similar performance from the 27-year-old.
Striker: Pierre-Emerick Aubemeyang showed his worth to the team after he scored just after coming on as a substitute around the hour mark against Gladbach. The Gabonese International still remain as one of the danger men for the Bayern defence.
