Franck Kessie- Without a shade of doubt, Liverpool’s biggest problem is their understaffed central midfield. Though Klopp’s setup doesn’t require more than one proper midfielder to execute the plan properly, which is impeccably done by Jordan Henderson, the Reds nonetheless need quality options in that position.
And this Serie A midfielder has everything that could power up Liverpool in the most optimum way possible. He is tall, he has brilliant technique on the ball and he can dribble past opponents with ease. Kessie is claimed by many as the next Yaya Toure, owing to the Ivory international’s awesome composure on the ball among the most congested of midfield. A player with his presence in the midfield might just be the missing piece in Liverpool’s quest.
After Alberto Moreno’s misadventure this season, Klopp had little choice than to put the only other midfielder, James Milner, in the left back’s position. And while Emre Can took the midfield position owing to Henderson’s injury, the German hasn’t been very convincing at all.
Virgil van Dijk- One of the major areas that is bound to undergo heavy changes this summer is Liverpool’s central-defence. Apart from Joel Matip, who has saved Liverpool the blushes on numerous occasions, the Reds doesn’t have a proper centre-half that has led them to come under immense criticism.
Van Dijk has been one of the hottest prospects this summer transfer window with numerous Premier League giants chasing him. Liverpool are also known to be tracking his progress and given their previous successful transfer dealings with Southampton, there is every chance Van Dijk might make a move to Anfield. With a big frame player like Matip at the back, an intelligent enforcer like Van Dijk is what Liverpool is missing. The Dutchman will surely make the Reds a more complete team.
Lorenzo Insigne- Liverpool’s best player this season has inarguably been their right-winger Sadio Mane. The former Southampton player has netted 12 goals and provided 6 assists so far, and Liverpool’s over-reliance on him could be clearly felt when the Senegal international was away at AFCON earlier this year. Klopp needs an equally potent winger in that position to keep the competition intense and better their bench.
And Insigne could just be the perfect option. The Napoli winger has one of the most lethal right-foots in the business and his sublime dribbling skills make him the perfect blend to have on the flanks.
